While only a still image is available in the post, users have reported being able to reach 20-30FPS on a high-end phone. In a reddit post, a user is shown making use of an Android phone, an HDMI cable, and a $4,000 smart board to run what appears to be either Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield. Not content with Pokémon on a phone, the use of the Skyline Emulator can bring it to all kinds of things, including a school whiteboard. Thanks to emulation, there are even more options. The console’s ability to run on a TV and as a handheld has long set it apart from others of its generation. Again, the emulator has closed-source code, requires a specific ($100 controller), AND it's shown evidence of lifting code from Yuzu without permission – not to mention it's rolling with assets that were almost certainly stolen from Nintendo (and friends).Versatility has always been a strength of the Nintendo Switch.
The emulator is called "Egg NS" and it seems to work only on Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 and 865 Android devices. I can now confirm this is legit (as in, it works, not that it's a clean project.)
We still wont link directly to said emulator – and I'd like to remind you that any software downloaded by you to your Android device – especially outside of Google Play – may result in your smartphone turning into a brick, breaking, or otherwise getting tossed out of any software warranty you might otherwise have. That emulator is licensed under GPLv2 (General Public License v2.0, which makes it a little less slimy. You might instead want to take a peek at the emulator called Yuzu (developed by bylaws). Further confirmation can be found on GBATemp where bylaws (see below) speaks about the new emulator. *In the XDA report, Adam Conway reports that the project is, indeed, violating open-sources licenses (from Yuzu).
